Hi, I'm Sumarie Rossouw
I am an ecologist and conservationist with a love
for capturing nature's most amazing creatures,
botanical beauty and dramatic landscapes with
my camera. For me photography is a way of
capturing and documenting a living moment in
a still image, a moment that will never be
exactly the same.
Photography has taught me to look at things from
a different perspective and to see what I normally
would not have noticed such as detail, patterns,
texture and unexpected animal behaviour.
My love for photography started back in 2010
when my family and I went on holiday touring
Botswana in which we were surrounded by
nothing but Africa's most iconic
wildlife for four weeks.
My Goal
I want people to experience nature through my
lens, showing them the detail that we miss in
our daily hustle and bustle.
Using the art of nature photography as a form of
education and a tool for nature conservation
by creating curiosity and passion among people by
portraying natures beauty. With all my photos I
provide some interesting stories and facts related
to the animal, plant or landscape to spreading
awareness and knowledge.
"In the end, we will conserve only what we love;
we will love only what we understand and we
will understand only what we are taught"

What's in the bag?
The magic happens with my Canon 90D camera.
My lenses include the Canon macro 100mm lens, the three standard
Canon kit lenses (18 - 55mm, 50mm and 55 - 250mm) and the Sigma 150 - 600mm lens.
To get above and beyond I use the DJI Mini 2 Drone.
